DUI/Driving Under the Influence/Drunk Driving

Arrested for DUI?  Call the Law Office of Jay S. Finnecy immediately for a free consultation and case evaluation.  DO NOT DELAY.  The clock is running with the DMV.  Your driver’s license may be suspended automatically if you do not request a hearing within 10 days of your arrest.  Even the process for properly scheduling a hearing is complicated and I have heard of far too many people being dissuaded from scheduling a hearing upon calling the DMV without proper legal representation.

PLEASE CALL my law office today to discuss your case—before it’s too late.

Drunk Driving, DUI, Driving Under the Influence, Buzzed Driving, 502, Deuce, whatever you call it, is a serious offense in the state of California with far-reaching and long-lasting consequences.  DUI cases are very technical and more complicated than simply asking, “what was your blood alcohol level or BAC?”  If you’ve been arrested for DUI, you need an experienced criminal defense/DUI Attorney to represent you properly both before the DMV and in court.

The penalties for even a first offense are severe.  The prosecution will not “reduce” the charge simply because you have no prior record.  In fact, in many cases even on first offenses, the prosecution will ask the judge to order the defendant to wear a SCRAM device during the pendency of the case AND an ignition interlock device as a condition of probation.  THIS is in addition to very high fines ($2,000+), DUI Classes, MADD Victim Impact Panel, and possibly community service and even jail time (maximum sentence is six months county jail).

In addition to the variety of possible penalties mentioned above, your insurance rates will be affected for years and you may suffer problems with your employer or when looking for employment.  The affects of a DUI conviction can be devastating if you hold a professional license or hope to become licensed.

DUIs are also the subject of many uniformed rumors.  DO NOT take legal advice from your “friend” who got a DUI three years ago, nor from the guy on the next bar stool over who “just went to court and talked to the judge.”   Times have changed and DUIs are strictly enforced and prosecuted now.  The laws change yearly and always get worse.  DUIs are highly political due to organizations like MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers).  Remember, both judges and prosecutors are political animals and are subject to public pressure.

Excellent representation

Jay is an extremely experienced DUI defense attorney. He brings the knowledge and skill to every client that they deserve. Knowing both sides of the law as a former prosecutor is extremely important, and is a reason he is worth the money to retain.

Awesome Attorney!

Jay has been my attorney for 4 years and I have nothing but great things to say about him. He's thorough, meticulous, unrelenting and will make sure you are represented to the best of his ability. He represented me for a lpase of judgment on my part and negotiated a reduction of s felony charge to a misdemeanor. After 18 months on summary probation, he petitioned for and had my probation terminated early and then immediately filed for expungment of the charge. 90 days later the charge was expunged. Hire him if you need a great criminal attorney!

Outstanding Defense Attorney

Jay has defended me in 2 cases: I was extremely satisfied with both results. He has excellent communication skills, conducts efficient client meetings, has an outstanding & realistic understanding of how the judicial system functions, charges very reasonable fees, and helps you look past the mistake you made. The first case, a felony charge, resulted a misdemeanor and the second case, a traffic violation, resulted in a dismissal. I'd select him again in a heartbeat.
